Twist helped 'Make It Happen' for a group of 15-year-old boys from Bangladeshi backgrounds in Tower Hamlets. Partnering with Simmons & Simmons, Twist helped the boys transform from being 'at risk of exclusion' to being responsible and ambitious young men. The Attorney General recognised Twist for 'Excellence Through Partnership for Young People'. The project also won the Best Corporate Responsibility Initiative from The Lawyer's HR Awards.
Twist designed a customised CR programme for Simmons, in which trainee solicitors mentored the youth, who were at risk of offending or dropping out of school. With their mentors' help, the teens set up and ran a summer school for younger pupils (part-hosted by Simmons) and did a week of work experience in various business services departments. The young men have impressed their families, teachers and friends with the positive changes they've made: increased maturity, improved behaviour and higher confidence. They are now pursuing educational and employment goals to secure a brighter future.
