Leadership and Active Citizenship

Twist works with schools on diverse citizenship projects. The workshops explore what it means to be an 'active citizen', motivating students to decide what needs changing and to take responsibility for bringing about those changes.

Case studies:

A citizenship project for the whole of Year 10 at Dame Alice Owen's School.

A leadership exercise for underachieving Year 8 students. They learned about 19th-century literature, art, history and geography, then planned and delivered a residential trip to Yorkshire for other students.

A week-long project for Gifted and Talented pupils attending the Crossways Federation of schools, Lewisham.

A series of more than 40 school projects in association with Newham Excellence in Cities. Featuring video to be broadcast on Teachers TV.

A project with Years 9 and 10 at Catford Business and Enterprise College liaising with worldwide accountancy firm KPMG.

At Central Foundation Girls' School, students researched and reported on women's empowerment in a project that linked the school's specialism with curriculum subjects.
